Dive cruises and day trips to the Similan Islands from Phuket tend to depart from the nearest port, Tapram. Most tours include free pick from the resort areas of Phuket and Khao Lak. If you are joining a dive cruise leaving in the evening,it will still be possible to board as long as you arrive at Phuket International Airport by evening. Distance to Tapram: from Phuket: 90mins by car from Phuket International Airport: 50mins by car from Khao Lak: 25mins by car
■Accommodation before and after tours: Khao Lak is a new resort area. It is close to Thap Lamu pier, only 25 minutes away from where the boats depart to and arrive from the Similan Islands.If you are joining a tour that leaves first thing in the morning, we recommended that you stay in Khao Lak the night before. However, Khao Lak is a new resort with very little restaurants and tourist spots so we recommend that those staying several days or needing a place to stay after the cruise go to Phuket.
